A NOTE FROM
THE HOST

Welcome to The Woodhouse Farm.

This is more than just a “Woodhouse” ... this is our home where as a family we spend a lot of time in the Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...

Building this house has not been easy, especially with this kind of wood and glass facade. We wanted to build a house that would blend into the natural surroundings without cutting into the land and its original fields – hence the open layering of the living rooms. As you can imagine transporting everything including big sheets of glass into the hills has not been easy... the result is after 5 years of patience, labour and resilience. Still, we continue to furnish and fix it on an ongoing basis.

Through each of the window panes on a clear day, you will have mountains in the frames... and at night you will see the lights of Almora town in the distance.

There are many things to do here. First of all, you have the luxury of time so do spend it well... solitude and clean air are rare commodities these days.

THE
DESIGN

INT_5280-HDR.jpg

Located at 6,500 ft and clad in locally sourced wood “The Woodhouse Farm” has been designed by Matra Architects. It comprises of a Yoga Deck (Shoonya), an in-house cafe (The Little Oak Tree Living Cafe), 02 bedroom unit with a glass front (Meraki) and a 04 Bedroom cottage (The Main House) that is an architectural marvel in itself.

The unique layered design of the Main House blends in perfectly to match the existing terraced terrain and the peaked all-glass-roofline mimics the mountains beyond while allowing daylight to flood the interior arranged over stepped-levels.

Meraki, on the other hand, has been designed to blend in with the nature that surrounds it. Its dark brown texture acts as a camouflage in the woods and its all-glass front offers unparalleled views of the Himalayas.

The interiors of our boutique wooden cottages are just as unique as its exteriors.

All rooms are spacious and have been carefully decorated with chic interiors.

The large windows offer vistas of famous Himalayan peaks such as Trishul, Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Nandaghunti and Nandakot.
